At the beginning of the game, a special event took place, celebrating 40 years since the great performance of the Romanian hockey: 7th place at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics.
Thus, most of the members of the national team since then have been awarded by FRHG (through Mr. Emilian Cernica, vice-president of FRHG), COSR (by Mr. Mihai Covaliu, president of COSR) and by Bauer Romania, to the applause of the spectators from Brasov, who filled the Olympic Rink stands.
Also, the big Romanian players were congratulated by the mayor of Brașov, Mr. George Scripcaru.
The players awarded in Brasov were: Valerian Netedu, George Justinian, Sandor Gall, Elod Antal, Doru Moroșan, Ion Berdilă, Marian Costea, Dumitru Axente, Alexandru Hălăucă, Traian Cazacu, Constantin Nistor, Adrian Olenici, Bela Nagy, Zoltan Nagy, Marian Pisaru and coach Ștefan Ionescu.
There was a moment of silence for those who contributed to this performance and unfortunately they are not among us: coach Ioan Tiron and players Istvan Antal, Doru Tureanu and Gheorghe Huțan.
The players Mihail Popescu and Laszlo Solyom could not reach Brasov for this award but were mentioned during the festivity.
After this festivity began the “derby” between our team and SC Miercurea Ciuc, a game that counted for both the “Master Round” of the Erste League and for the National Championship of Romania.
If after two periods the guests had scored two goals, the “wolves” were reborn in the third half.
In the 40’58 “minute of the game, Daniel Trancă managed an exceptional technical execution and reduced the score to 1-2 (assisted by brothers Zsombor and Zoltan Molnar).
After a sustained “forcing” of our team, in the 54’35”, the American Jared Brown took an exceptional shot and equalized to 2-2 (assisted by Pavlo Borysenko).
Score after 60 minutes: 2-2.
