Today we present you a new acquisition of our team, a player with a great experience in strong championships, Canadian striker Wacey Rabbit, 32 years old.
🔝The last season was the best marker of the Jacksonville IceMen team in ECHL and throughout his career he played over 300 matches in the North American AHL league.
☑Wacey Rabbit was born in Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) and is very proud of his American origins, being a member of the “Kainai Tribal Nation” community.
☑ He’s 177 cm, 82 kg. and even if he played predominantly on the “center”, he can play on any attacking post.
☑ Most of the junior participated in the WHL, Saskatoon Blades, where he played 289 matches in five seasons and scored 222 points (91 goals and 131 passes).
☑ During the last season in Saskatoon Blades, in 2005, he was drafted by the Boston Bruins team (in the fifth round of the NHL draft).
☑ In 2006 he was teamed up with the Boston Bruins team (Providence Bruins), but at the end of the season he was lent to the Canadian Vancouver Giants team (WHL), with whom he won the CHL Memorial Cup – an important trophy in the hockey Canadian for which the champions of the three major youth leagues in Canada compete: OHL, WHL and QMJHL, alongside a host team designated by Hockey Canada. It is the most important trophy awarded by “Hockey Canada” to the youth.
☑ In the 2007/2008 and 2008/2009 seasons he continued to play at AHL at Providence Bruins and in the 2009/2010 season he was traded to the Milwaukee Admirals (AHL) team affiliated with the Nashville Predators team (NHL).
☑ In the 2010/2011 season he had his first experience in Europe, joining the Croatian Medvescak Zagreb (EBEL) team. A successful season followed, achieving 39 points in 53 matches.
☑ In the 2011/2012 season he returned to AHL, signing with the San Antonio Rampage team (who was then affiliated with Florida Panthers, NHL).
☑ Between 2012 and 2015, three consecutive seasons were played on the Norwegian Lørenskog first team, achieving a total of 131 points (46 goals and 85 decisive passes) in 118 regular season games and 13 points in 19 play-off games.
☑ In the 2015/2016 season he played in Japan at Nippon Paper Cranes, a member of the Asian international league “Asia League”. In the “Asia League” season, a total of 41 points (7 + 34) scored in 48 regular season games and 3 points (1 + 2) in the three play-off games.
☑ In season 2016/2017, he returned to Europe, evolving for the Val Pusteria team in the Austrian-Italian-Slovenian international league “AlpsHL”. Val Pusteria played 35 matches in the regular season of the AlpsHL (achieving 34 points – 19 + 15).
☑ In season 2017/2018, after a short stay in ECHL at Jacksonville IceMen, he returned to Europe, signing with the Czech league team HC Dukla Jihlava. He had 17 appearances in the first Czech league (2 goals and 3 passes) during the regular season, as well as 5 play-outs and 9 games in the tournament for re-qualification in the first league.
☑The last season returned to ECHL at Jacksonville IceMen, becoming the best scorer of the regular season with 60 points in 70 games (29 goals and 31 decisive passes). He played in the same “line” with the other acquisition of our team, striker Cody Fowlie.
☑ In 2017, when Canadian coach Ted Nolan took over Poland’s national team, he recommended Wacey Rabbit to the Polish Federation for naturalization for Poland’s national team, but the player declined to do so.
☑ He is a fast, technical player with attitude, personality and hope to help us meet our goals for the next season.
